AC Milan came from behind to defeat hosts Como 3–1 on Thursday, keeping their hopes alive in the Italian Serie A title race.

With this victory, Milan moved into second place with 43 points, three points behind city rivals and leaders Inter Milan, and three points ahead of third-placed Napoli. Como, meanwhile, sit sixth with 34 points.

Como started the match brightly and took the lead after 10 minutes when Marc-Oliver Kempf rose to head the ball into the net from a corner kick.

Despite Como controlling much of the first half, Milan equalised in stoppage time when Christopher Nkunku calmly converted a penalty. The spot kick was awarded after Kempf pushed Adrien Rabiot.

Como pressed to regain the lead at the start of the second half, but Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan produced several fine saves, the most notable coming when he stretched his fingertips to keep out a low shot from Nico Paz.

Milan then went ahead in the 55th minute when Rabiot scored from close range after Rafael Leão cleverly lifted the ball over the Como defence for the Frenchman, who finished with ease.

The hosts attempted an immediate response and nearly equalised minutes later, when Paz unleashed a shot from outside the penalty area that struck the crossbar.

Milan sealed the win two minutes from time as Rabiot caught the Como defence off guard with a low long-range strike that found the back of the net.
