Al‑Sadd have repeated their victory over Al‑Shamal, securing a 6–4 win in the quarter‑finals of the Emir Cup of Qatar,
to book a place in the semi‑finals. The Doha club had earlier clinched the Qatar Stars League title by defeating the 10‑man Al‑Shamal 3–2 in the final round last Monday, lifting their 19th league crown in history.
Al‑Sadd will now face Al‑Duhail in the semi‑final on Tuesday. The goals for Al‑Sadd came from captain Hassan Al‑Haydos, who opened the scoring from a penalty in the 10th minute, followed by Claudineu a few minutes later. Rafa Mújica, the player of the match, completed a hat‑trick with goals in the 23rd, 24th, and 56th minutes, before substitute Deilerson added the sixth in the 7th minute of added time.
For Al‑Shamal, goals were scored by Tamer Hayam with a header in the 3rd minute of first‑half added time, Baghdad Bounedjah in the 61st minute, defender Jason Mouriño with another header in the 75th minute, and Mohammed Omar with a powerful shot in the final minute. Goalkeeper Babacar N'Diaye left the field after 30 minutes due to injury, making way for Omar Barry, with the score already 4–0 in favor of Al‑Sadd at that stage.
In the other quarter‑finals, Al‑Gharafa defeated Al‑Markhiya 2–1, Al‑Rayyan lost 3–0 to Al‑Wakra, and Al‑Duhail smashed Al‑Arabi 4–0. Al‑Gharafa will meet Al‑Wakra in one semi‑final, while Al‑Sadd face Al‑Duhail in the second.
