British driver Lewis Hamilton claimed his first victory with Ferrari after finishing first in the Barcelona Grand Prix, the seventh round of the Formula 1 World Championship, held Sunday at the Montmeló circuit in Catalonia.
It was Hamilton’s first win since the 2024 Belgian Grand Prix at Spa‑Francorchamps, and his seventh career victory in Barcelona, giving him the outright record ahead of German legend Michael Schumacher. It also marked the 106th win of his illustrious career.
The seven‑time world champion completed the 66‑lap race in 1:32:43.989, finishing 19.563 seconds ahead of pole‑sitter George Russell (Mercedes) and 23.719 seconds ahead of world champion Lando Norris (McLaren).
Hamilton expressed his emotion over team radio: “You helped me so much to achieve this dream… I don’t have enough words to thank you.” He added: “To the fans, thank you for reminding me who I am. I couldn’t have done this without you.”
The race also saw the end of Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli’s five‑race winning streak. The Italian championship leader was forced to retire five laps from the finish due to a mechanical issue.
Despite leaving Catalonia empty‑handed, Antonelli this season’s breakout star remained atop the drivers’ standings with 156 points, ahead of Hamilton (115) and Russell (106).
Mercedes strengthened its lead in the constructors’ standings with 262 points, followed by Ferrari (190) and McLaren (141).
Rounding out the top five were Max Verstappen (Red Bull), the four‑time world champion, and Oscar Piastri (McLaren).
