Bayern München 4-3 Holstein Kiel

Amid the ongoing discussions surrounding Mathys Tel’s departure, Bayern München found a welcome distraction on the pitch with a composed first-half performance.

Kiel had a golden opportunity to shock the visitors in the 12th minute when Phil Harres found space inside the box, but his left-footed effort drifted wide, an opportunity rarely afforded against a side as ruthless as Bayern.

Jamal Musiala broke the deadlock in the 19th minute, coolly stroking home his 10th goal of the season after being teed up inside the box by Michael Olise, who registered his 10th assist of the campaign.

On the stroke of halftime, Harry Kane doubled Bayern’s advantage on his 50th Bundesliga appearance, guiding a pinpoint Kingsley Coman cross into the bottom corner with a well-placed header. The Englishman’s 54th Bundesliga goal ensured Bayern went into the break in control.

Less than a minute into the second half, Kane went on to add another to his sizeable collection, delicately heading home inside the box after Raphael Guerrero sent the ball towards Bayern's deadly number nine.

Continuing to flex their muscles, Serge Gnabry added to the scoreline with a simply world-class finish, unleashing a left-footed volley inside the box in the 54th minute after arriving as a second-half substitute.

Kiel were able to claw one back in the 62nd minute, as Finn Porath unleashed a fantastic strike from the right-hand side of the box, netting his first goal in the Bundesliga in fantastic fashion.

However, as the game reached its closing stages, Steven Skrzybski provided a lifeline for the visitors in added time at the end of the match, much to the annoyance of Bayern head coach Vincent Kopany.

The 32-year-old forward netted from inside the box to score in successive matches for the first time in the Bundesliga, and moments later added a second of the day to bring Kiel back within a goal of Bayern. It did prove, however, to be too little too late for the struggling visitors.

Bayern avoided a late scare after a relatively commanding performance prior to this. However, Kompany will undoubtedly carry huge frustrations regarding the way his side saw out the encounter.
