Captain Firas Tayt has been elected as the new president of the Syrian Arab Football Association, winning a decisive election with 42 votes against 23 for his opponent, former international referee Jamal Al-Sharif. The election took place in Damascus under the direct supervision of FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation, reinforcing its integrity and transparency.

Firas Tayt’s victory is attributed to his extensive experience as a former player with notable clubs including Al-Hurriya, Al-Jaish, and Al-Nawair, where he was a historic top scorer. His election program emphasized supporting clubs, youth categories, and rebuilding Syrian football to reach a professional and fair environment free from favoritism.

His team includes prominent sports figures like Fadi Al-Dabbas as vice president and several other members known for their expertise in Syrian football.

While some observers noted the influence of official support and electoral adjustments, the final outcome was positive, with both candidates embracing and expressing a shared goal of advancing Syrian football.

Firas Tayt views his election as an opportunity to reform Syria’s sports infrastructure, foster youth programs, and restore the national football scene's prestige, emphasizing transparency and dedication.

The election marks a new chapter for Syrian football, with hopes that Tayt's leadership will bring meaningful achievements and renewed opportunities for the country's young players.
