Amad scored a stunning late volley to rescue a dramatic 2-2 draw for Manchester United against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.
The Red Devils appeared poised for defeat on the first anniversary of Ruben Amorim’s appointment as manager after making a dreadful start to the second half.
Man Utd were leading at the interval through Casemiro’s header, but quickfire goals from Morgan Gibbs-White and Nicolo Savona in the space of 102 seconds turned the game on its head.
However, Amad intervened in magnificent fashion with nine minutes remaining to secure a share of the spoils, ensuring the hosts’ long wait for a first league victory since the opening weekend of the season continued.
Man Utd could have gone second in the Premier League table with a victory but the draw still sees them climb a place to fifth, while Forest remain in 18th position, now four points behind Burnley.
How the match unfolded
Sean Dyche’s side generated the stronger attacking threat early on. Nikola Milenkovic headed just over, while Dan Ndoye's fierce long-range drive was pushed away by Senne Lammens.
The visitors began to ask questions at the other end as the first half wore on, with Amad calling Matz Sels into action shortly before Man Utd grabbed a 34th-minute lead.
The goal arrived when Casemiro netted a downward header from Bruno Fernandes' corner, the award of which had frustrated Forest players and fans, who believed home defender Savona had initially prevented the ball from going behind.
Nevertheless, the hosts started the second half with a vengeance and, within five minutes, had charged into an unlikely lead.
They levelled in the 48th minute when Ryan Yates' cross was brilliantly steered in by the head of Gibbs-White, before Savona pounced on a loose ball to complete the turnaround from close range.
Man Utd pushed hard for an equaliser and Fernandes was whiskers away from finding one when his fizzing low drive crashed against the post.
A second goal for the visitors did arrive with another long-range attempt, with Amad dispatching a sweetly struck volley beyond Sels from the edge of the area after a corner was cleared into his path.
As part of an entertaining finish that contained action at both ends, Amad very nearly snatched all three points for Man Utd in stoppage time, but Murillo got back to clear his low effort off the line.
Positives for Dyche despite missing out on victory
Forest's wait for a first Premier League victory since beating Brentford 3-1 on matchday one continues, though there are plenty of positives for Dyche's side to build on.
Things did not look promising when Douglas Luiz limped off injured inside the opening quarter of an hour, while they went in at half-time frustrated, trailing to Casemiro's free header.
It marked the second successive game in which Forest had conceded from a contentious corner, with Marcus Tavernier scoring directly from one during last weekend's 2-0 defeat at AFC Bournemouth.
However, Luiz's replacement Yates played a key role in the equaliser, with his precise cross expertly converted by Gibbs-White for the Forest talisman’s first league goal of the season.
The hosts were then in dreamland when Savona opened his account for the club.
Igor Jesus headed wide at the far post midway through the second half and Callum Hudson-Odoi also came close while Forest were in the lead.
Those chances would ultimately prove costly with Amad drawing Man Utd level in superb fashion, and almost snatching victory at the death, but having lost their last four top-flight games without scoring coming into this clash with in-form Man Utd, there is plenty for Dyche to build on after naming Forest’s youngest starting XI of the season so far.
After playing away to Sturm Graz in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday, Forest are back at home again next Sunday when they welcome Leeds United to the City Ground.
It already feels like a hugely important game for Dyche’s side, who will want to avoid being cut off from the teams above them before the November international break.
Amad ends Amorim’s first year on a high
Despite seeing their three-match winning streak in the Premier League end, Man Utd got themselves out of jail thanks to Amad’s brilliance.
The Red Devils appeared to have turned a corner in recent times, and had the chance to climb as high as second in the table with victory here.
They appeared on track to do so after naming an unchanged team and going ahead through Casemiro's well-placed header, but a slow start to the second half was costly, reminding their supporters that this team remains very much a work in progress.
Lammens was helpless to do anything about Gibbs-White’s header, after Amad had been outmuscled by the England international, but there will be more concern about the slow reactions from the United defence soon after when they were punished by Savona.
To their credit, though, the visitors kept plugging away. Fernandes was hugely unfortunate not to see his brilliant long-range strike nestle in the bottom corner, but Amad ensured they did not leave empty handed, with his first goal of the campaign proving to be a memorable one.
Though Amad was then denied a winner with almost the last kick of the game, his late equaliser follows up some impressive recent Man Utd performances, giving Amorim a strong end to his first year in charge.
It is a sequence of decent results that United will hope to continue next Saturday when they travel to London for a huge clash with Tottenham Hotspur.
