Germany did not lose because of bad luck, but because of structural problems in their build-up play, depth, counter-pressing, and the absence of a player capable of breaking lines. Ecuador played intelligently on Germany’s weaknesses, and Germany simply did not have the tools to respond.Germany are no longer Germany. The team that once terrified the world has become a side that can be contained, predicted, and beaten at their weakest moments. The crisis is not in one match, but in an entire system that has lost its courage, boldness, and historical depth. Lack of Attacking DepthThe biggest problem that appeared clearly:
Germany played against Ecuador’s block as if they were hitting a solid wa Slow Build-upConstruction from the back was far too slow:
- Wirtz and Musiala play between the lines, not behind the defence.
- Havertz drops deep too often to receive the ball, leaving no striker to threaten the space.
Germany played against Ecuador’s block as if they were hitting a solid wa Slow Build-upConstruction from the back was far too slow:
- Kimmich as a full-back does not provide the required speed.
- Gayà lacks the quality to push forward and create superiority.
- Sideways passes outnumbered vertical ones.
- Huge spaces behind the full-backs.
- The two centre-backs lacked sufficient speed in cover.
- Dribble
- Pass vertically
- Create numerical superiority
- Musiala was marked tightly
- Wirtz was far from danger zones
- No one attacked the space between the two centre-backs
- There was no immediate pressure
- Distances between the lines were too wide
- Ecuadorian players escaped with the ball easily
- 20+ crosses
- Very low success rate
- No strong target man in the box
- Faster
- Stronger
- More aggressive in duels
- Better able to run for the full 90 minutes
- Knows how to defend
- Knows how to attack
- Knows exactly where to strike
- Possesses a clear identity
