Inter Milan beat Lazio 2-0 in the Italian Cup final on Wednesday at the Olympic Stadium, as Lazio defender Adam Marušić scored an own goal and Lautaro Martínez added another for Inter, helping the league champions complete the domestic double.
Inter took the lead early in the 14th minute from a corner kick that reached Marušić, who turned the ball into his own net.
Lazio’s defensive confusion continued, and Inter doubled their advantage ten minutes before halftime. Nuno Tavares lost concentration, allowing Marcus Thuram to win the ball deep in Lazio’s half before he delivered a low cross to Martínez, who finished into the net.
Although both teams created chances after the break, the result seemed inevitable in the closing stages, and frustration boiled over into a brief confrontation between players before the final whistle.
