It was a dramatic night in the Carabao Cup as the competition once again delivered its fair share of upsets, wonder goals and talking points as we look towards Round Four.
Brighton's Diego Gómez struck four goals, including a first-half hat-trick to help his side to a 6-0 victory at Barnsley. The Paraguayan midfielder announced himself to the world with some phenomenal strikes, including a goal of the season contender, as the Seagulls racked up consecutive 6-0 wins, having beaten Oxford United by the same margin in Round Two.
Liverpool narrowly escaped a penalty shootout against Southampton, with Hugo Ekitike netting an 85th minute winner before picking up a second-yellow card for his celebration. The tie also saw Alexander Isak bag his first goal for the Reds since his record move from Newcastle United, the team he scored against Liverpool for in last year's Final.
League One Cardiff City pulled off the biggest upset of the night in defeating Premier League side Burnley. Goals from Joel Colwill and Callum Robinson were enough to take the Bluebirds into Round Four, with Zian Flemming's consolation goal unable to rescue Scott Parker's side.
Lincoln City put in a valiant display against World Champions Chelsea, forcing the Blues into a second-half comeback after Rob Street's first-half goal. The Imps came out fighting from the first-whistle and after striking the post early on, could well have been 2-0 up. Tyrique George levelled the game with a sweet strike just after half-time, with Facundo Buonanotte netting the winner just minutes later.
Wycombe Wanderers made it to Round Four of the League Cup for just the second time in their history, knocking out Wigan Athletic thanks to goals from Caolan Boyd-Munce and Donnell McNeilly.
They're joined in the hat by Wrexham, who overcame Reading thanks to a brace from new signing Nathan Broadhead, his first goals for the club.
Fulham secured a 1-0 win over Cambridge United at Craven Cottage, while Wolverhampton Wanderers turned around their league form and beat Everton 2-0, goals coming from Marshall Munetsi and Tolu Arokodare.
Round Three concludes on Wednesday night, with four more places in the next round up for grabs.
