Following the 1-1 draw between Argentina and Venezuela in a match played in Maturín, the main players of the National Team led by Lionel Scaloni spoke to the media:
"It was a long wait to play again, I was away for a long time, missing matches for the club. But I'm happy to be back."
"I'm happy to be able to continue playing and be here again. The truth is that it was very difficult to play like that, the match became very ugly, very tight."
"The pitch didn't help us do what we wanted to do. We hadn't prepared for a match like this, but we did feel prepared to fight for the second ball and look for the opponent's mistake."
"We couldn't make two passes in a row because of the condition of the field."
"I'm happy to be playing in Argentina again on Tuesday."
"Now it's time to travel, rest and prepare for the home game.
"Unfortunately we had to adapt to these circumstances and we were unable to take the three points."
"Today we couldn't really play football, we had to go for the second ball. It was very competitive. We must continue working to achieve the goal of playing in the next World Cup."
"We follow orders and do what we are told. For us, the best conditions for playing are on a good pitch, where the ball can move."
"As visitors, they are putting other types of difficulties on us besides the footballing ones."
Lionel Scaloni has already made history. At 44 years old and in his first experience as a coach, he was crowned world champion and ended a 36-year streak without lifting the most important trophy.
In just over four years of management, Scaloni led the national team to the 2021 Copa América titles, the Finalissima, the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and the 2024 Copa América.
A total of 80 games, 56 wins, 17 draws and only seven losses, are the numbers of the cycle that began in September 2018, with 154 goals for and 43 against.
In the meantime, in addition to the titles, Scaloni led the longest unbeaten streak in the history of the Argentine national team with 36 matches and the second in the world, just one match behind Italy.
