Alexander Isak, Andy Robertson and Florian Wirtz were all on target as Liverpool earned a hard-fought 3-1 victory over Crystal Palace at Anfield on Saturday to earn a third consecutive league victory.

Sweden striker Isak opened the scoring in the 35th minute, after brilliantly trapping Alexis Mac Allister's shot and finishing past Dean Henderson for his fourth goal for the Reds.

Liverpool, who had already seen a penalty initially awarded to Mohamed Salah reversed prior to the opener, saw Robertson double the lead at the end of a swift counter before the break.

Daniel Munoz responded in the 71st minute, the goal standing despite Freddie Woodman being down injured at the time, but Wirtz made sure of the points with a fantastic stoppage-time strike.

Aston Villa's defeat to Fulham earlier in the day means Liverpool are now up to fourth in the table, while Palace are down in 13th.

How the match unfolded

Liverpool were awarded a penalty in the 23rd minute when Brennan Johnson slid in on Salah at the end of a rapid counter, but Andy Madley reversed his decision after a trip to the pitch-side monitor.

But Liverpool led after 35 minutes when Isak expertly controlled Mac Allister's drive and hit his shot on the bounce past Henderson.

Woodman then brilliantly denied Maxence Lacroix to start a fabulous Liverpool counter-attack that ended with Robertson sliding into the bottom-left corner after a wonderful through-ball from Curtis Jones.

Woodman then did brilliantly to deny Sarr one-on-one but, with the 'keeper down injured on the floor, Munoz lifted into the unguarded goal from outside the box in the 71st minute with Liverpool's protestations falling on deaf ears.

Palace turned the screw in search of an equaliser, with Jorgen Strand Larsen hitting the post after going through one-on-one, but Wirtz expertly arrowed one into the top-left corner deep into stoppage time to settle any Liverpool nerves.
