Manchester City ceded ground to Arsenal in the Premier League title race as they twice surrendered the lead in a 2-2 draw with struggling Nottingham Forest.

Antoine Semenyo's wonderful volley in the 31st minute had Man City in front at half-time at the Etihad Stadium, but Morgan Gibbs-White's clever backheel restored parity 11 minutes into the second half.

Rodri headed in his first Premier League goal since May 2024 in what looked like the winner for Man City.

However, Elliot Anderson curled in an outstanding equaliser in the 76th minute to earn Forest – who survived a dramatic goalmouth scramble at the death – a draw that could have huge ramifications at both ends of the table.

Man City are now on 60 points, seven adrift of leaders Arsenal, albeit with a game in hand, while Forest are outside of the bottom three on 28 points, only on goal difference after West Ham United beat Fulham.

How the match unfolded

Semenyo fired into the side-netting, and goalkeeper Matz Sels got down to smother Bernardo Silva's shot on the spin in an otherwise low-key start, while Gibbs-White fluffed his lines in a rare Forest attack.

Just after the half-hour mark, Semenyo broke the deadlock with a lovely, cushioned finish on the volley from Rayan Cherki's clip.

The visitors drew level out of nowhere in the 56th minute thanks to Gibbs-White's audacious backheel after Igor Jesus knocked down Ola Aina's cross. But Forest had parity for just six minutes as Rodri ghosted in to head home from Rayan Ait-Nouri's corner.

Forest just would not lie down, though, and Anderson had space and time to bend a fine curling effort past Donnarumma into the bottom-right corner from 25 yards. And he almost teed up a winner for Ryan Yates, who thumped a free header wide.

A breathless finale then also saw Semenyo clip the crossbar with a free-kick, before Savinho had a shot blocked on the line by Murillo in the ninth minute of stoppage time in a scarcely believable turn of events.
