Italian driver Kimi Antonelli of Mercedes ended Ferrari’s dominance in the free practice sessions of the Monaco Grand Prix, scheduled for Sunday as part of the Formula 1 World Championship, after setting the fastest time in the third practice session on Saturday.

According to the British News Agency, after Ferrari drivers Charles Leclerc of Monaco and Lewis Hamilton of Britain topped the first and second practice sessions, Antonelli  the current leader of the drivers’ standings  managed to record the fastest lap time.

Antonelli, who leads the drivers’ championship by 43 points ahead of his British teammate George Russell, outpaced Leclerc by 0.327 seconds, while Hamilton  supported for the first time in Monaco by his friend Kim Kardashian finished just 0.004 seconds behind his teammate.

Russell settled for fourth place, 0.763 seconds off the top, while Dutch driver Max Verstappen (Red Bull) and Australian Oscar Piastri (McLaren) finished fifth and sixth respectively. British driver Lando Norris came only ninth and ended the session protesting what he considered to be an obstruction by Hamilton.

British driver Ollie Bearman faces a race against time to make it to the crucial qualifying session later on Saturday after crashing during free practice.

Bearman, the Haas driver, lost control of his car at the top of the hill before hitting the barriers hard, causing significant damage to the chassis.

The official qualifying session will take place later on Saturday, while the main race will be held on Sunday over 78 laps.
