Monaco inflict harsh blow on PSG five days before Chelsea UCL clash.

Monaco dealt a crushing 3-1 defeat to hosts Paris Saint-Germain on Friday at Parc des Princes, opening Matchday 25 of Ligue 1—just five days before PSG's fiery Champions League last-16 first leg against Chelsea.

The Principality side, who have now beaten PSG home and away this season, led through Maghnes Akliouche (27') and Aleksandr Golovin (55'); Bradley Barcola pulled one back (71'), but Folarin Balogun quickly restored the two-goal cushion (73').espn+1

Monaco's fourth league win over PSG this season hands Lens a chance to cut the gap to one point with a Sunday win over Metz.

PSG are frozen at 57 points; Monaco climb provisionally to fifth on 40, ahead of Lille, Rennes, and Strasbourg on goal difference.

This was the third PSG-Monaco clash in under three weeks—and fourth this season—after two fiery Champions League playoff ties (PSG won 3-2 away on Feb. 17, 2-2 home on Feb. 25) and Monaco's 1-0 league win on Nov. 29
