Ballon d’Or 2025 — results

Paris Saint-Germain’s Ousmane Dembele and Barcelona’s Aitana Bonmati have won the top prizes at the 2025 Ballon d’Or awards ceremony in Paris, France.

Dembele, who helped PSG become the first French side to win a continental treble last season, beat Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal to the men’s award.

Spain international Bonmati won the Ballon d’Or Féminin for the third year in a row, edging out Mariona Caldentey.

Results — Young players: Lopez, Yamal. Best coaches: Wiegman, Enrique. Best goalkeepers: Hampton, Donnarumma. Top scorers: Pajor, Gyokeres. Women’s club: Arsenal. Men’s club: PSG.

The 28-year-old Ousmane Dembele winning the Ballon d'Or means that every winner from 2013 onwards has been aged 28 or older.

Lionel Messi (then 25) in 2012 is the last winner of the award who was aged 27 or younger, as the above graphic shows.

The Ballon d'Or ceremony itself always strays into being slightly awkward due to its format and the more reserved nature of a lot of football’s top stars.

And tonight was no different, with a few minor hiccups including the claim that Arsenal — winners of the women’s team of the year — were undefeated in the Champions League.

They actually lost three times on the way to the trophy.

Throw in the weird dance break, waffling from a club president and a random DJ presenting an award and tonight had all the hallmarks of a classic Ballon d’Or, if not a Ballon d'Or classic.
