According to reports, the dispute began on the training pitch before escalating into a fight that later continued inside the dressing room at the club’s training complex, Valdebebas. The incident reportedly became more serious after Valverde went to hospital following the confrontation, underlining the severity of the tension between the two players.
In an official statement on its website, Real Madrid said: “Following the events that took place in this morning’s training session, it has been decided to open a disciplinary investigation into Federico Valverde and Aurélien Tchouaméni.”
The club added: “The results of the investigation will be announced in due course once it has been completed.”
The crisis comes at a sensitive moment for Real Madrid, who sit second in the La Liga table with 77 points, ahead of the highly anticipated Clásico against Barcelona on Sunday. Barcelona need just one point from that match to seal the league title mathematically.
