Paris Saint‑Germain took full advantage of their closest rivals Lens’ slip‑up, moving six points clear at the top of Ligue 1 after a comfortable 3–0 win away to Angers on Saturday in the 31st fixture.
The Parisians, who face a daunting home clash with Bayern Munich on Tuesday in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League semi‑finals, extended their tally to 69 points, opening up a six‑point gap over Lens, who were held to a 3–3 draw at Brest on Friday.
With four matches remaining and a direct meeting scheduled against Lens in the penultimate round, PSG are on the verge of clinching their fifth consecutive Ligue 1 title and their 14th in club history, the 12th since the start of the Qatari‑owned era.
Despite resting key starters such as Ousmane Dembélé, Désiré Doué, and Georgian Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, the visitors dominated from the start. Italian winger Kang‑in Lee opened the scoring in the 7th minute, following up after Russian goalkeeper Matvey Safonov parried a shot by Moroccan star Achraf Hakimi.
Brazilian midfielder Lucas Beraldo set up Senny Mayulu for the second, as the young Frenchman slipped between the Angers defenders to round Safonov and finish coolly in the 39th minute. Lucas then capped the scoring himself with a powerful header from a corner delivered by Lee in the 52nd minute.
Portuguese full‑back Gonçalo Ramírez was later sent off in the 74th minute after picking up a second yellow card, but the damage was already done. Angers, winless in six league games and on their fourth defeat in that stretch, remain stuck on 34 points in 13th place.
Lyon storm up the table
In the day’s other notable match, Ukrainian striker Roman Yaremchuk led Olympique Lyonnais to their third consecutive league victory, temporarily breaking their tie on points with Lille by beating hosts Auxerre 3–2.
Yaremchuk opened the scoring in the 19th minute from a cross by Brazilian Abner Vinícius, and then struck again on the volley in the 71st minute after a pass from Corentin Tolisso, who had restored Lyon’s lead in the 66th minute. Ivorian Sinaly Diomandé had equalised for Auxerre in the 35th.
Swiss substitute Bryan Okoh pulled one back in the 88th minute, but Lyon held on. The 3–2 win took Lyon to 57 points in third place, three points ahead of Lille, who play Paris FC on Sunday.
With wins in their last two league outings—including their 2–1 upset of PSG—Lyon have climbed three positions under Portuguese coach Paulo Fonseca, who had endured a nine‑match winless run (six in the league) earlier this season.
Auxerre, meanwhile, remain in trouble on 25 points in 16th place, now in the relegation‑play‑off zone.
