Report By Dr Talal osman West Ham United moved out of the relegation zone and dealt Manchester City’s title hopes a blow after coming from behind to earn a 1-1 draw. Having seen Arsenal beat Everton in dramatic fashion earlier on, Man City could not get the win they needed to reduce the gap at the top of the Premier League back to seven points, despite Bernardo Silva putting them ahead at the London Stadium. Nuno Espirito Santo’s side knew they would move out of the drop zone for the first time since December if they avoided defeat, and Konstantinos Mavropanos grabbed their equaliser. The defender’s header from a corner just crossed the line, and though having plenty of time to get back in front, Man City could not find a second goal, with Tijjani Reijnders’ free-kick tipped onto the bar before Marc Guehi blasted over in the closing seconds. West Ham are now 17th, one point above Nottingham Forest, while Man City sit nine points behind Arsenal in second with eight games to play. How the match unfolded Man City started brightly and found their breakthrough in the 31st minute. Omar Marmoush slipped Silva into the left of the box, and his chip to the back post floated in over Mads Hermansen. West Ham were level just four minutes later, though, as Jarrod Bowen’s corner sailed over Gianluigi Donnarumma to Mavropanos, who thumped his header in off the underside of the crossbar. Antoine Semenyo almost put Man City back in front on the stroke of half-time but drilled his low shot narrowly wide. Erling Haaland got round the back of Axel Disasi to flash a low shot on goal, which Hermansen tipped wide, as Man City kept the pressure up after the break. Hermansen then made an excellent fingertip save to push Reijnders’ free-kick onto the bar, while Guehi’s golden opportunity sailed into the stands as Man City failed to turn their sustained pressure into a winner
