Zamalek claimed the top spot in the Egyptian Premier League for football by securing a precious 1-0 victory over hosts Pyramids in a summit clash of the 20th round of the competition on Sunday.
Hossam Abdel Majeed scored the lone goal from a penalty kick in the 60th minute of the match held at the "Air Defense" stadium, Pyramids' stronghold.
With this win, Zamalek continues its streak of victories in the league tournament, raising its tally to 40 points in first place. Pyramids sits second with 37 points, ahead on goal difference over defending champions Al Ahly and Ceramica Cleopatra, who occupy third and fourth places.
