Portuguese coach Ruben Amorim of Manchester United admitted the club made many mistakes in the past but emphasized that his focus is now on the future, following critical comments made by Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo about his former club.
Ronaldo had earlier stated that Amorim "cannot perform miracles" in a club "that is not on the right path," adding: "They need change, and it's not just about the coach or the players."
Responding to these remarks before the team's trip to face Tottenham early in the week, Amorim, Ronaldo’s former teammate in the Portuguese national team, said: "Of course he knows, and his words carry significant weight."
He added, as reported by the British news agency PA Media: "What we need to focus on is the future. We know as a club that we have made many mistakes in the past, but we are trying to change that."
Amorim continued: "Let's not dwell on what happened, but focus on what we are doing now, and that is exactly what we are doing. We are working to change many things in the team’s structure, the way we operate, and the players’ behavior inside the club."
