Barcelona advanced to the Champions League quarterfinals after a sweeping 7–2 victory over Newcastle United at Camp Nou on Wednesday, winning 8–3 on aggregate in a thrilling Round of 16 tie.

Raphinha opened the scoring for Barcelona in the sixth minute after a quick counterattack led by Fermín López, but Anthony Elanga equalized nine minutes later following a cross from Lewis Hall. Marc Bernal then restored the lead for the hosts from a free kick taken by Raphinha, before Elanga struck again in the 28th minute after Lamine Yamal failed to clear the ball.

Yamal made up for the mistake by converting a penalty in first‑half stoppage time after VAR confirmed a foul by Kieran Trippier on Raphinha inside the box. Barcelona then went on to score four more goals in the second half.

Fermín added the fourth in the 52nd minute, and Robert Lewandowski netted twice — first with a header from a corner, then finishing a through ball from Yamal.

Raphinha capped the goal fest in the 73rd minute after a mistake by Jacob Ramsey. Barcelona will face either Atlético Madrid or Tottenham Hotspur in the next round.
