Bayern Munich 2-2 Borussia Dortmund: Fábio Silva strikes late to deny Bayern in Der Klassiker
Dortmund came from behind twice at the Allianz Arena, rescuing a point a minute from the end of normal time

In Der Klassiker, the last minute isn’t a footnote. Bayern Munich were reminded of that on Saturday evening. Dayot Upamecano’s goal looked like it would settle the eighth round of the Bundesliga, until Fábio Silva equalised in the 89th minute to make it 2-2 and leave Munich with an uncomfortable question: how does a side lead twice at home and still fail to see it out?
Konrad Laimer opened the scoring on 38 minutes. It was a goal from a player valued more for energy, pressing and ball-winning than for finishing, and perhaps that was exactly what Bayern needed to break the first half open. They went in at the interval ahead, and the balance of the evening appeared to have settled with them.
Dortmund, though, rarely come to the Allianz Arena to accept the obvious. On the hour, Serhou Guirassy pulled them level with the kind of moment he is paid for: a striker who does not need a flood of chances, only one that he reads before anyone else does.
Bayern’s response was swift. Six minutes later Upamecano, a defender turned scorer, restored the lead at 2-1. It was the reply that should have decided the night: the home side absorbing the blow, landing one of their own straight away, and leaving their visitors less than half an hour to find their way back.
This is where a familiar Bayern flaw resurfaced. A lead in a game of this size is not an achievement in itself; it is a responsibility that has to be managed. Dortmund had already come back once and knew they could do it again. In the 89th minute, with the crowd counting seconds rather than minutes, Fábio Silva scored, and three points that had seemed secure became one.
The result reads differently depending on which dressing room you sit in. For Bayern, it is a draw that feels like a defeat: twice in front and unable to make either lead stick. For Dortmund, it is a point that feels like a win, taken from a ground where visitors seldom leave with anything, and a sign of a side that responds rather than merely reacts.
The clearest lesson of the evening is that Der Klassiker has lost none of its character. Being the better side for long stretches is not enough. You have to be there until the very end.
