the Brazilian team's elimination from the Copa América , the president of the CBF (Brazilian Football Confederation), Ednaldo Rodrigues , ruled out any change and assured the permanence of coach Dorival Júnior during the remainder of the 2026 World Cup cycle .

According to the manager, the coach's work is still in its early stages, with a change of command being detrimental to Brazil at this tim

"It's a job that is just beginning and with a renewal that he is implementing in the Brazilian team. [ Preparation for the Copa América

] It was an important period, because there was more time in which (Dorival and the players) had this coexistence. Normally, these call-ups are for short periods, but now he was able to observe a lot and draw (conclusions) from what he can always be doing", he said.

In two months there are qualifiers and the project is exactly that: to continue (with Dorival), understanding,

intensifying and working. And the objective now for the qualifiers, we have games in September, October and November, six games. It's the World Cup cycle, and he and his entire coaching staff are very aware of what was done", he continued.

Dorival is aware of what didn't go well, and that's how you build a competitive team, a winning team. That's what the project is about, because every time you make changes, you start a new job and it's always more difficult, so I think it was a start that allowed him to make his conjectures and I'm sure he'll find the right timing ," he argued.

Ednaldo also stressed that Brazil and the CBF's intention was to win the Copa América title. However, the director stressed that the team is in transition, with the arrival of young players who are still getting used to the pressure of defending the team.

"Saying that you don't want to win is not correct... We wanted to win, but we also know that it's the beginning of work with a new group, there are young people who are just joining and we need to have more minutes, so we knew that too," he pointed out.

We were aware that we have teams (in the Copa América) that were already at a much higher stage, like Colombia, Argentina, Uruguay itself. So, we were already aware of that, the coach himself was also aware of that, as was the entire technical committee," he noted.

"I think the job is for us to do more and more, to make the most of the time they can be together. The CBF provided all the conditions for them to be fully engaged since the FIFA Dates in June, when we played the two friendlies, on the 8th and the 12th, so everyone came from the 29th of May. Therefore, it is more time for them to prepare a victorious team," he concluded.

The Brazilian delegation will now return home, with the players heading in different directions in the coming days to take holidays or return to their clubs.

The Brazilian team will play again on September 4, against Ecuador , in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers .
