César Luis Menotti, the national coach of Argentina, winner of the 1978 World Cup, has died at the age of 85, the Argentine Football Federation (AFA) announced on Sunday.
"The Argentine Football Federation announces with regret and deep sadness the death of Luis César Menotti, director of the national teams and former world champion coach" , AFA noted on social media.
In addition to his time with the Argentine national team, Menotti also coached FC Barcelona and Boca Juniors, accumulating a remarkable career and leaving an indelible mark in the world of football.
