The Egyptian national team stripped its counterpart, Côte d'Ivoire, of the African Nations title by achieving a valuable victory with a score of 3/2, on Saturday, at the conclusion of the quarter-finals of the 35th edition of the continental championship held in Morocco.Omar Marmoush, Rami Rabia and Mohamed Salah scored for Egypt in the 4th, 32nd and 52nd minutes of the match held in Agadir, while the Elephants reduced the difference with an own goal scored by Egyptian Ahmed Fattouh by mistake against his team in the 40th minute.
In the second half, Gila Doi added the second goal in the 73rd minute, but it was not enough for the African champions to complete their title defense campaign.Thus, the Egyptian national team qualifies to face Senegal in the semi-finals, which will be held next Wednesday, in a repeat of the final match between the two teams in the previous edition 2021 in Cameroon, which ended with Senegal winning on penalties.In addition to winning and snatching the qualification card, the Egyptian team also devoted the knot to Côte d'Ivoire by beating them for the ninth time, compared to two draws and one victory for the Elephants in 12 direct confrontations between the two teams in the African Nations Championship.
