Report By Dr Talal Osman Mohamed Salah scored on his first Anfield appearance since announcing he will leave Liverpool at the end of the season as the Reds beat Fulham 2-0 to strengthen their grip on fifth place. The Premier League's top five are set to qualify for next season's UEFA Champions League, and Arne Slot's side remain in pole position to secure the final spot with youngster Rio Ngumoha setting them on their way to victory. Ngumoha's first Anfield strike was a delightful curling effort that gave Bernd Leno no chance, and Salah added a quick-fire second, netting his first home Premier League goal since November. Fulham improved after half-time and had several chances to force a nervy finale, but Rodrigo Muniz and Emile Smith Rowe missed the clearest of them. The Reds are four points clear of sixth-placed Chelsea, with the Blues playing their game in hand against Manchester City at Stamford Bridge on Sunday. How the match unfolded The first chances fell Liverpool's way as Leno thwarted Salah after strong work from Jeremie Frimpong, while Cody Gakpo flashed an effort wide. Fulham carried a threat on the break. Oscar Bobb's snapshot forced Giorgi Mamardashvili into action and Harry Wilson bent an attempt narrowly over, but Liverpool made the breakthrough in the 36th minute. It was a memorable strike from Ngumoha, who twisted and turned beyond Timothy Castagne before picking out the corner superbly. Four minutes later, another unerring finish from the opposite side of the area made it 2-0, with Salah planting a trademark effort past Leno following Gakpo's lay-off. Sasa Lukic was one of two Fulham substitutes to enter the fray at half-time, and he found the net almost immediately, only to be flagged offside. Muniz also missed from a glorious position, after Gakpo passed up a chance to end the contest for Liverpool. Smith Rowe could have done better when he turned Ryan Sessegnon's centre wide, and that was Fulham's last real opportunity to tee up a grandstand finish
