Bayern Munich secured a dominant 5–1 victory over Cypriot side Pafos FC in the UEFA Champions League, extending their winning streak to nine consecutive matches across all competitions. This achievement mirrors the club’s historic run under legendary coach Jupp Heynckes during the 2012–2013 treble-winning season.

CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen praised the team during a post-match dinner, saying: “9 wins in 9 official matches, dear Vincent (Kompany). The last person to achieve that was

Jupp Heynckes in the 2012–2013 season. It’s been a long time.”

Current manager Vincent Kompany expressed his ambition to replicate that success: “I said clearly before our first match that our dream is to reach the final and have a chance to win the title. Winning the Champions League is extremely difficult, but we’re in the mix now and must focus on winning the next game.”

Joshua Kimmich highlighted the team’s chemistry: “The harmony we’re experiencing isn’t a coincidence.”

Striker Harry Kane, who scored twice against Pafos, added: “It may have looked easy, but that’s because of how we play—pressing, set pieces, and breaking lines. We’ve got momentum and we’re determined to keep it.”

Back in 2012–2013, Bayern’s winning streak under Heynckes ended in their 10th official match with a 1–3 loss to BATE Borisov in the Champions League group stage. Kompany now has the chance to go one better if Bayern defeats Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga this Saturday.

Kompany concluded: “We trust every player we have, which is why we use them all. My priority is to keep delivering

strong performances. Everything we achieve comes through the team. I have 100% confidence in every player in my squad.”
